Stay Away from Indoctrination and Dogma

"As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming;" (Ephesians 4:14 NASB).

A Young Man concerned about Jehovah's Witnesses

Recently, I was talking to a friend's son, and he told me that his girlfriend, a Jehovah's Witnesses, has got his ear, and he is concerned about her religion. I said to him, "At least she is coming to church with you," and he said, "Yeh! But she is going to have to convert."

Hopefully, the young man, who is 23 years old, will read this post, and sit down with his girlfriend in prayer and Bible study to come to the Truth about Christ, so Jesus can be at the center of their relationship and respective lives.

The concern that I have had for years about Jehovah's Witnesses is that they complicate Christianity, think that their religion is the only true form of Christianity, and claim that only 144,000 people will go to heaven!

The holy scriptures advise believers to not be yoked with unbelievers (2 Corinthians 6:14-18), and that Christians should be of one mind (Romans 15:5-6; 1 Corinthians 1:10; 1 Peter 3:8; Philippians 2:2).

The Lord's Statute about forbidding His people to marry people with strange religious practices was clear to the Israelites;
Deuteronomy 7:3 (NLT) You must not intermarry with them. Do not let your daughters and sons marry their sons and daughters,"

Philippians 2:2 (NLT)
2 Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose.

But what happens when you fall in love with a person who is an unbeliever or who is a little spiritually confused?

Now! If you are already married to an unbeliever, before you run out to divorce Court, please read the Holy Scriptures below:

1 Corinthians 7:13-14 (NLT)
13 And if a believing woman has a husband who is not a believer and he is willing to continue living with her, she must not leave him. 14 For the believing wife brings holiness to her marriage, and the believing husband brings holiness to his marriage. Otherwise, your children would not be holy, but now they are holy. 15 (But if the husband or wife who isn’t a believer insists on leaving, let them go. In such cases the believing husband or wife is no longer bound to the other, for God has called you to live in peace.)

The problem I see in marrying a person that you are not equally yoked with in faith, is that you often end up having almost the opposite belief about God. I was married for 13 years, and never knew that my wife did not believe in the need for Jesus Christ as her personal Savior, until after I was divorced. Anyway, I became a prodigal son of God and married outside the church by the Justice of the Peace, and at the time was involved in syncretizing Hindu/Buddhist' beliefs and yoga with my supposed Christian faith.

I had dinner one night with the young man and his Jehovah's Witness girlfriend, and his mother. At dinner, the young lady started asking me questions about what I knew about Jehovah's Witnesses.

Jehovah's Witnesses Meetings for worship and study are held at Kingdom Halls. Jehovah's Witnesses are assigned to a congregation in whose "territory" they usually reside and attend weekly services they refer to as "meetings" as scheduled by congregation elders. The meetings are largely devoted to study of Watch Tower Society literature and their own translation of the Holy Bible.

The religion's position regarding conscientious objection to military service, and refusal to salute national flags has brought it into conflict with some governments.

The young man's Jehovah's Witness girlfriend told us at dinner that she believes that we worship Jesus and that Jehovah's Witnesses only worship God.

I think that the young lady, and Jehovah's Witnesses are confused about Jesus as both God and man, and the importance of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior! Christians pray to Jesus as our Redeemer, Lord and Advocate with the Father.

1 John 2:1 (ESV)

Christ Our Advocate

2 My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.

My job as an evangelist is to follow 2 Timothy 2:15 and 2 Timothy 4:1-5, and TEACH (as The Great Commission call for Christians to do twice in the King James version of Matthew 28:19-20). We must compassionately try with long suffering to help people understand the need for a Savior in this world, and help lead people back to the simplicity of faith in Jesus Christ and the Holy Bible as the only doctrine of God.

Matthew 28:19-20 (KJV)
19 Go ye therefore, and TEACH all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

20 TEACHING them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

2 Timothy 2:15 (NKJV)
15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

2 Timothy 4:1-5 (NKJV)

Preach the Word

4 I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at[a] His appearing and His kingdom: 2 Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. 5 But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.

2 Timothy 4:1 NU-Text omits therefore and reads and by for at.

The Apostle Paul wrote:

2 Corinthians 11:3-4 • New Living Translation (NLT)

3 But I fear that somehow your pure and undivided devotion to Christ will be corrupted, just as Eve was deceived by the cunning ways of the serpent. 4 You happily put up with whatever anyone tells you, even if they preach a different Jesus than the one we preach, or a different kind of Spirit than the one you received, or a different kind of gospel than the one you believed.

The best thing that the young man can do is to continue to date the young lady, as he and his mom seek to evangelize and lead the young lady to a better understanding of the simplicity of Christ and the Truth of the Holy Scriptures---apart from manmade religion, dogma, Tradition and rituals.

In 1870, by Charles Taze Russell and others, formed an independent group in Pittsburgh, PA, to study the Bible. During the course of his ministry, Russell disputed many beliefs of mainstream Christianity---including immortality of the soul, hellfire, predestination, the Trinity, the return of Christ, and the burning up of the world. Jehovah’s Witnesses believe that only their religion represents true Christianity, and that other religions are part of Babylon the Great (Revelation 17) and will soon be destroyed.

Jesus Christ used a parable to warn about sin and hellfire in Matthew 18:9; "And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you. It is better for you to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes, to be cast into hell fire."

Jehovah's Witnesses believe that references in the Bible to the Archangel Michael, Abaddon (Apollyon), and the Word all refer to Jesus Christ as a Spirit. [1] However, the Holy Scriptures tell us that there is a Trinity of God, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit!

1 John 5:7-8 (NKJV)
7 For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one. 8 And there are three that bear witness on earth:[a] the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and these three agree as one.

John 1:1 (NKJV)

The Eternal Word

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 1:14 (NKJV)

The Word Becomes Flesh

14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

John 14:6 (NLT)

6 Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.

John 14:15-17 (NKJV)

Jesus Promises Another Helper

15 “If you love Me, keep[a] My commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.

John 14:15 NU-Text reads you will keep.

Titus 3:4-5 (NKJV)
4 But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, 5 not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit,

Most importantly, Charles Taze Russell disputed that Christ would return in the flesh to rule on earth. However, Isaiah 9:6-9, prophesied Christ's birth to flip over the mark of the beast, 666, and Antichrist government. Revelation 19 and 20 states that Christ will come again to rule on earth.

Revelation 19:11-16 (NKJV)

Christ on a White Horse

11 Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. 12 His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had[a] a name written that no one knew except Himself. 13 He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. 14 And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean,[b] followed Him on white horses. 15 Now out of His mouth goes a sharp[c] sword, that with it He should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. 16 And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written:

I want you, the reader, to read the passages of Scriptures below and see if you too make the connection between the 144,000 of Revelation 7 and Revelation 14 to those VIRGINS, who are going to be left on the face of the earth as a witnesses to the nations about Jesus (Yeshua), the Christ, during the Great Tribulation (Revelation 13 through Revelation 14:6-13).

Revelation 7:1-3(NKJV)
The Sealed of Israel

7 After these things I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, on the sea, or on any tree. 2 Then I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God. And he cried with a loud voice to the four angels to whom it was granted to harm the earth and the sea, 3 saying, “Do not harm the earth, the sea, or the trees till we have sealed the servants of our God on their foreheads.”

Revelation 14 (NKJV)
The Lamb and the 144,000

14 Then I looked, and behold, a[a] Lamb standing on Mount Zion, and with Him one hundred and forty-four thousand, having[b] His Father’s name written on their foreheads. 2 And I heard a voice from heaven, like the voice of many waters, and like the voice of loud thunder. And I heard the sound of harpists playing their harps. 3 They sang as it were a new song before the throne, before the four living creatures, and the elders; and no one could learn that song except the hundred and forty-four thousand who were redeemed from the earth. 4 These are the ones who were not defiled with women, for they are virgins. These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever He goes. These were redeemed[c] from among men, being firstfruits to God and to the Lamb. 5 And in their mouth was found no deceit,[d] for they are without fault before the throne of God.[e]

The Saints Reign with Christ 1,000 Years

4 And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a[a] thousand years. 5 But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years.

Satanic Rebellion Crushed

7 Now when the thousand years have expired, Satan will be released from his prison 8 and will go out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle, whose number is as the sand of the sea. 9 They went up on the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city. And fire came down from God out of heaven and devoured them. 10 The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where[b] the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

JEHOVAH’S WITNESSES AND WATCH TOWER SOCIETY PUBLICATIONS TEACH THAT JESUS CHRIST BEGAN TO RULE IN HEAVEN AS KING OF GOD'S KINGDOM IN OCTOBER 1914, and that Satan was subsequently ousted from heaven to the earth in 1914—misrepresenting Revelation 12. They believe that Jesus rules invisibly, from heaven, perceived only as a series of "signs." They believe Jesus' presence includes an unknown period beginning with His inauguration as king in heaven in October 1914, and ending when He comes to bring a final judgment against humans on earth.

JEHOVAH’S WITNESSES INTERPRET REVELATION 14:1–5 TO MEAN THAT THE NUMBER OF CHRISTIANS GOING TO HEAVEN IS LIMITED TO EXACTLY 144,000, who will rule with Jesus as kings and priests over earth. [2]. Jehovah’s Witnesses Do Not believe in Hell or fiery torment. Jehovah's Witnesses consider the soul to be a life or a living body that CAN die. [3]. Disfellowshipping is shunning members.

In January 1917, the Watch Tower Society's legal representative, Joseph Franklin Rutherford, was elected as its next president. Significant changes in doctrine were regularly introduced during Rutherford's twenty-five years as president—including the 1920 announcement that the Jewish patriarchs (such as Abraham and Isaac) would be resurrected in 1925, marking the beginning of Christ's thousand-year Kingdom. On July 26, 1931, Rutherford introduced the new name—Jehovah's Witnesses. By the mid-1930s, the timing of the beginning of Christ's enthronement as King, and the start of the "last days" were each moved to 1914. [4] Jehovah's Witnesses’ failed predictions supposedly approved by God keep changing!

Nathan Knorr was appointed as third president of the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society in 1942. Knorr commissioned a new translation of the Bible, the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures, the full version of which was released in 1961.

Some Bible scholars including Bruce M. Metzger, former Professor and Bible editor at Princeton Theological Seminary, have said that the translation of certain texts in its New World Translation of the Bible is biased in favor of Jehovah's Witnesses' practices and doctrines.

FROM 1966, JEHOVAH’S WITNESS PUBLICATIONS AND CONVENTION TALKS BUILT ANTICIPATION OF THE POSSIBILITY THAT CHRIST'S THOUSAND-YEAR REIGN MIGHT BEGIN IN LATE 1975, or shortly thereafter. The number of baptisms increased significantly, from about 59,000 in 1966 to more than 297,000 in 1974. By 1975, the number of active members exceeded two million. Membership declined during the late 1970s after expectations for the start of Christ’s Thousand Year Reign in 1975 were proved wrong.

Jehovah's Witnesses claim to make predictions about End Time prophecies, stating that they receive their predictions from God. However, many of Jehovah's Witnessses' predictions have been proven wrong---and they have changed their dates numerous times. God does Not change His mind!

Numbers 23:19 (NLT)
19 God is not a man, so He does not lie.
He is not human, so He does not change His mind.
Has he ever spoken and failed to act?

Has He ever promised and not carried it through?

2 Peter 1:20-21 (NLT)
20 Above all, you must realize that no prophecy in Scripture ever came from the prophet’s own understanding,[a] 21 or from human initiative. No, those prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they spoke from God.

1:20 Or is a matter of one’s own interpretation

We can only try and lead people to the Truth of Jesus Christ, God's Word, and inspire them to seek a personal relationship with Jesus.

We must leave the results up to the Holy Spirit---that is what it means to Preach the Word, Teach and Evangelize!

If you have not formally accepted Jesus Christ, please accept the Gift of Salvation by saying this short prayer:  "Dear Jesus, I repent of my sins and the original sin of mankind, please come into my heart and change me to trust in you and build my personal relationship with you by studying your word and applying it to my life to the best of my ability. Thank you for dying on the cross for the remission of sin. Thank you for conquering death with your resurrection. I accept you Jesus as my Lord and Savior, please lead me and guide me. Amen!"

If you have said that short prayer, I welcome you to the True Body of Christ (not a sect, Protestant or Catholic denomination or Eastern religion).

Please get into a Bible-based church, where the Word of God is taught unadulterated and reject the rituals, religious lies and Tradition(s) and hedonism of men and women.

Godspeed, love and Truth,

Brother David Johnson, XU
