Recently, I joined an On-line community "inspirational forum": 'Roman Catholics" to discuss the simplicity of devotion to Jesus Christ over manmade Tradition with a capital "T," and I was ex-communicated!
I was consequently banned from the community, after several of the "moderators" decided that my mission to discuss 2 Corinthians 11:3-4, jeopardized "Roman Catholic" doctrine, and the Catechism of the RCC.
One member of the Group even went as far to say that the Catechism of the Roman Catholic Church does not teach that Mary, the mother of Christ, is an intercessory for believers. But the Catechism of the Roman Catholic Church: PART ONE, SECTION TWO, "THE PROFESSION OF THE CHRISTIAN FAITH," CHAPTER THREE, "I BELIEVE IN THE HOLY SPIRIT," ARTICLE 9, "I BELIEVE IN THE HOLY CATHOLIC CHURCH," reads:
The Only (Singular) Gift
of Salvation is Jesus!
of Salvation is Jesus!
Based upon the above "CHAPTER THREE, "I BELIEVE IN THE HOLY SPIRIT," of the RCC, Mary plays the same role as the Holy Spirit?
I tried to exhort with longsuffering and convince the "moderaors" of the On-line community "inspirational forum": Roman Catholics, that Jesus is our Only Advocate and intercessory before God---as opposed to what oral teachings (Tradition) has taught "would-be" believers throughout history.
"2 Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction. 3 For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear."
I believe that one reason why some people have a problem with the Holy Bible and would prefer a religion that uses the title, "Mediatrix" is this Scripture:
"23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body."
27 As he was speaking, a woman in the crowd called out, “God bless your mother—the womb from which you came, and the breasts that nursed you!”
28 Jesus replied, “But even more blessed are all who hear the word of God and put it into practice.”
Matthew 12:47-50 (NIV)
"47 Someone told Jesus, “Your mother and your brothers are outside, and they want to speak to you.”
"48 Jesus asked, “Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?” 49 Then he pointed to his disciples and said, “Look, these are my mother and brothers. 50 Anyone who does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother!””
Tradition = Dogma = Changes
God does not change His mind about His Word: The problem with doctrine and dogma is that the RCC and many other religions like the Anglican Communion (Church of England and it colony churches---to include the Episcopal church in America), re-write their rules (doctrine) and change their mind all the time.
In the RCC, "Tradition" is held in the same reverence as the Holy Scriptures, but that is not what the Word of God (Jesus) intended.
Respect priests and pastors, and understand that they only know what they have been taught. But If a pastor is teaching something that it is not contained in the whole context of the Scriptures (cross-referenced), it is apostate!
Moreover, the Holy Bible teaches not to bestow the title, "Father" on any dignitary or teacher (rabbi)...
Therefore the priestly title, "Father" and "Holy Father," used to refer to the Pope of the Roman Catholic Church, is apostate!
"9 And call no one your father on earth, for you have
one Father—the one in heaven."
God sent us the Holy Sprit and God breathed His Word....
"16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."
The Holy Spirit Guides Us!
"26 Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. 27 And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. 28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose."
The Holy Bible teaches that ALL Christians are "saints," which has nothing to do with "Catholic canonized Saints."
Regarding the Holy Trinity
Another member and "moderator" of the group, sent me a message saying that no where does the Holy Bible teach about the Holy Trinity, and that it was a Roman Catholic Church teaching. But the early church simply took the Scriptures that the authors inspired by God wrote, and compiled them into the early Canon. Regardless, the Holy Bible is as complete as only God knows, yet people still argue about certain scrolls not included in the various early versions of the Holy Bible (see Revelation 22:18-19)---God's written Word is Supreme!
Regarding the biblical teaching about the Holy Trinity, the New Testament is clear on Jesus as part of the three Divine characteristics of God. Nevertheless at the Council of Nicaea c. AD 325, the early church leaders discussed Jesus Divinity and when He became divine. But God's Word left No Doubt...
This First Epistle of John was written in Ephesus between the years AD 95–110. The work was written to counter "docetism," the heresy that Jesus did not come "in the flesh," but only as a spirit.
God's Word versus Intellectualism
King James Version (KJV)
"6 This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.
"7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one."
"8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one."
1 John 5:6-8
New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)
Testimony concerning the Son of God
"6 This is the one who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ, not with the water only but with the water and the blood. And the Spirit is the one that testifies, for the Spirit is the truth.
"7 There are three that testify:[a] 8 the Spirit and the water and the blood, and these three agree."
1 John 5:7 A few other authorities read (with variations) 7 There are three that testify in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit, and these three are one. 8 And there are three that testify on earth:
In the beginning God's Spirit hovered over the waters, and all things were created through God's Word (Genesis 1. In the New Testament of God, the Word of God became flesh (John 1:1; John 1:14), and Jesus sacrificed His blood to sanctify us and redeem us from death. We are made of blood, water and God's Spirit, which makes us human---also known as living souls. We agree with the Trinity and therefore we come into the Grace and sanctification of God through our belief in the blood sacrifice of Jesus for the redemption of sins (John 3:16).
We become Spiritually cleansed and regenerated by water in baptism and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit through repentance and acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of our life (Acts 2:38).
Q. Why do you think Jesus made a mature decision to be baptized?
The Baptism of Jesus
13 Then Jesus went from Galilee to the Jordan River to be baptized by John. 14 But John tried to talk him out of it. “I am the one who needs to be baptized by you,” he said, “so why are you coming to me?”
"15 But Jesus said, “It should be done, for we must carry out all that God requires.” So John agreed to baptize him."
'16 After his baptism, as Jesus came up out of the water, the heavens were opened and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and settling on him. 17 And a voice from heaven said,
“This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy.”'
I have to laugh, because I kept getting messages sent to me by the "moderators." One of them angrily implied that Protestants will be the ones that Jesus will say to: "I never knew you; depart from Me..."
Well! I have to think that this "moderator's" comment was condemnation, but the Holy Bible teaches that "Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death." (Romans 8:1-2). God Spirit set all generations free at Pentecost! The prophecy of Joel was fulfilled and all men, women, boys, girls, free and slave, can proclaim God's Truth.
I do not see myself as a Protestant or Catholic---I am just a Christian...
What makes my understanding of my faith and God's Word in alignment with the Protestant Reformation is that I believe that Jesus did not intend for priests to control the thoughts and actions of people. To teach a person or group to accept a set of beliefs uncritically is indoctrination.
Christ does not want robots: The over 50 million people who were killed by the Roman Catholic Church, because they simply wanted to follow the Holy Scriptures, instead of the Pope and RCC Bishops, found their life (Matthew 16:25).
Thank God for the Apostles and Martyrs---and later the Reformers, who were willing to put their life on the line and go against the despotism of the RCC. Otherwise, we would still be subject to more "Episcopal Inquisitions" and
"Papal Inquisitions," and unGodly Crusades of the Roman Catholic Church.
Ministering Requires Compassion
I am not called to be a priest, I am called, as we all are, to evangelize. But this does not mean that we will not get into debates...We simply need to learn to pick and choose our battles---and not restrict, dialogue out of fear and despotism.
5 Every high priest is selected from among the people and is appointed to represent the people in matters related to God, to offer gifts and sacrifices for sins. 2 He is able to deal gently with those who are ignorant and are going astray, since he himself is subject to weakness.
7 During the days of Jesus’ life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with fervent cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission. 8 Son though he was, he learned obedience from what he suffered 9 and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him 10 and was designated by God to be high priest in the order of Melchizedek.
SIDE NOTE: Abraham gave Melchizedek a tenth (10%) of his possessions, and that is where we get the standard for tithing in our church envelopes from.
During the future "Millennium" (Christ 1,000 year reign on earth-Revelation 20), the Levitical priesthood of the Jews will be restored (Ezekiel 44:15). However, Jesus did away with the old priesthood in the present "Church Age," which means the teaching of the Gospel to all nations and baptism of new disciples (Matthew 28:19-20 KJV). In this present "Church Age," Jesus Christ made us all part of the royal priesthood...
"But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light."
Acts 2:16-18 (NLT)
16 No, what you see was predicted long ago by the prophet Joel:
17 ‘In the last days,’ God says,
‘I will pour out my Spirit upon all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy.
Your young men will see visions,
and your old men will dream dreams.
18 In those days I will pour out my Spirit
even on my servants—men and women alike—
and they will prophesy.
I believe Pentecost as outlined in Acts chapter 2, gives women and men the right to preach the Word of God---without having to be ordained.
How Did Jesus Teach?
If you notice one thing by reading the Gospels, it is that Jesus quoted the Holy Scriptures, and often challenged the religious leaders of His day. Furthermore, Jesus only taught about His father and the Scriptures. Jesus only added "love" to the Law and belief in Him. JESUS TAUGHT BY QUOTING THE SCROLLS.
Jesus declared that He is God, and for that He was killed, but it was not the Jews who killed Jesus---it was God's plan for Christ to die to conquer sin and death. Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6).
Jesus is the Final Word of God
Jesus is the Final Word of God (John 1:1, John 1:14, Revelation 19:13). But the RCC teaches that the Pope has the final word on the interpretation of Scripture. "Ex Cathedra" means the pope's infallibility as defined in Roman Catholic doctrine. But mankind is finite and fallible---only God is infinite and infallible.
Christianity is Not a Religion...
It is a Lifestyle and faith in Christ!
It is a Lifestyle and faith in Christ!
The Apostle Paul tried to combat sectarianism that was destroying the early church (body of believers) because of people following the Traditions of men, instead of Christ (read 1 Corinthians chapter 3). "For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ (1 Cor. 3:11).
Sectarianism Is Sin
“10 Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. 11 For it has been declared to me concerning you, my brethren, by those of Chloe’s household, that there are contentions among you. 12 Now I say this, that each of you says, “I am of Paul,” or “I am of Apollos,” or “I am of Cephas,” or “I am of Christ.” 13 Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul? 14 I thank God that I baptized none of you except Crispus and Gaius, 15 lest anyone should say that I had baptized in my own name.”
The Apostle Paul, and all of the apostles (save John the Evangelist) were killed for teaching only about Jesus and the Scriptures.
Since the time of the early apostles, millions more were killed for simply wanting to follow the Holy Scriptures over religious dogma...
Ironically, I was not ex-communicated from the above mentioned group, until I suggested that people visit other churches to experience worship where only the Holy Bible is taught and Christ is the only head of His church (the worldwide body of believers). For over an hour, I was able to hold dialogue with members. Even more interesting, after I was excommunicated, a few of the "moderators" kept sending me despotic rebuttals, knowing that I would not be able to respond.
I guess the "moderators" did not like the fact that I mentioned that the UMC (United Methodist Church) is just like going to mass. The service is only one hour at most UMCs and you can wear jeans and shorts. Moreover United Methodist Churches do not turn anyone away (but people of the alternative lifestyle might want to read Romans 1:17-32 and let their God consciousness be their guide).
Sectarianism is sin, so wherever you go to church, just make sure that you can worship and praise God where Christ is the Only Head of the Church, and God's Word---the Holy Bible---is the ONLY doctrine.
It is Hard to Expose the Lies of Religion, Dogma and Orthodoxy without Publicly Disgracing Christians---because you end up exposing the fact that some people who "represent Christ," still try to censor and restrict dialogue and Godly free thought amongst Jesus' believers.
4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, 5 and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, 6 if they fall away, to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame.
The Lord Disciplines
those He loves
those He loves
Later the Lord made it clear to me that I was fighting the wrong fight in debating with "Roman Catholic Gatekeepers" over adhering only to the Holy Scriptures and the simplicity of our Lord Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 11:3-4) as opposed to their Catechism, dogma and doctrine.
"And if anyone will not receive you or listen to your words, shake off the dust from your feet when you leave that house or town."
In reading James 3:14-16, the Lord made it clear to me that I was allowing Satan to use my past resentment against the Roman Catholic Church and Jesuits to get me distracted with self ambition to debate the Catholic "moderators."
I cannot lie, I am a "recovering Catholic." But it is my own fault for allowing myself to be indoctrinated and not reading the Holy Bible to find the Truth. I did not start studying the Bible until I was 40 years old---while laying in a hospital bed for 5 months. All it took was reading God's Word to find the Truth!
Hopefully you find this admission and Blog "of the wisdom that comes from heaven, which is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere" (James 3:17).
I DO NOT HATE ANYONE, and have sympathy for Roman Catholics. I am the only one of my six siblings not Roman Catholic.
I loved being Catholic at one time. The smell of incense burning, cathedral choirs and the ritual of the mass was appealing. But outside of mass, I did not have a personal relationship with Christ. No matter the changes in the RCC, I was still taught that the way of the RCC was my ONLY passport to Jesus.
Years ago, I could not figure out why my girlfriend at the time, would always have to go to mass after we had already went to a Non-denominational service. She would say, "I have to go get the Eucharist," each Sunday when I questioned her about going to church a second time.
Later, I found out that the RCC teaches that the Eucharist is supposedly "the source and summit of the Christian life."
Catechism of the Catholic Church ARTICLE 3
THE SACRAMENT OF THE EUCHARIST
THE SACRAMENT OF THE EUCHARIST
I simply think we need to get back to the simplicity of Christ (1 Cor. 3;
2 Corinthians 11:3-4, etc.) and teaching right living--NOT indoctrination.
Fight the NWO, Not Each Other!
I also have to admit, that I allowed the devil to get me side tracked off the focus of leading those who do not believe at all to consider the Truth of God (Jesus) and righteousness over the New World Order (NWO) and Antichrist world system.
The devil loves nothing more than to divide and conquer those who believe in Jesus Christ and who are trying to live righteous.
"12 For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places."
Therefore, I must continue this Blog's Mission---and that is to put the Holy Scriptures in a Global context for all humanity.
I must allow the reader of this Blog to be guided by the Holy Spirit---without getting into debates and worrying about how many people follow this forum and believe its content---otherwise the devil will swell my head up with pride!
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
It is indeed sad, that Christianity has gotten so far off the simple path of what Christ taught us (the Scriptures and to love one another)---as well as Jesus setting the hearts and minds of the (spiritually confused) captives Free!
THINK ABOUT THIS: Jesus did not improve the Jews and Gentiles economic situation or restore them to prominence, but He did set their hearts and minds free from despotism---and the Spirit at rest (with all God's people) at Pentecost.
Hopefully you will do your own research and read God's Word for "teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that you, as a servant of God, may be thoroughly equipped to do good work" (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
Pray and ask for guidance from the Holy Spirit, and then READ: Ezekiel 34;
2 Corinthians 10:3-5; 2 Corinthians 11:3-4; 2 Corinthians 11:12-15; 1 Timothy 4:1-3; 2 Timothy 3:6-9; 2 Timothy 3:16-17, 2 Timothy 4:1-5 and Joel 1.
Please repent and accept the Gift of Salvation by saying this short prayer:
Thank you for conquering death with your resurrection. I accept you Jesus as my Lord and Savior, please lead me and guide me. Amen!"
If you have said that short prayer, I welcome you to the True Body of Christ (not a sect or religious denomination). Please get into a Bible-based church where the Word of God is taught unadulterated and reject the Tradition(s) of men. Pray, meditate upon God's Word and trust Jesus that He will guide you with His Spirit.
"And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near."
John 8:31-32 (ESV)
The Truth Will Set You Free
"31 So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, 32 and you will know the truth,
and the truth will set you free.”
Once you know you have found the simplicity of a sole relationship with Jesus Christ, you may be inspired to teach others (Matthew 28:19-20 KJV).
Godspeed, peace and love,
Brother David Johnson, XU
